ABOUT

Lazy Lions 2.0

This is a special article for me because Lazy Lions is where it all started for me, my web3 home. Bear with me because I’m writing with my heart in my hand

Just to show my passion for Lions, out of the 19 articles I published on Medium, 9 are about Lazy Lion’s related topics.

My Story with the Pride

My OG lion

I won’t bore you with my entire story; so to make a long story short, before entering the Pride I:

Had less than 200 followersNever spoke on spacesWas longing for true connections and to become a web3 builder.Wanted to work on web3 but didn’t know how or where to start.

As you can see in my first article, after just one month of joining, I had already spoken in a ton of spaces, started making a reputation for myself and was creating the Lazy Crew.

Trait groups

One of the things that’s always going to be huge in the history of the Pride, is the creation of trait groups.
Sure, now there are a ton of trait groups doing amazing stuff in almost every big collection. But at the start of 2022, things were different

Lazy Hats paved the way and then a lot of trait groups came to life. Galaxy Gang, Black Caps, Lazy Marshals, Lazy Rangers, Lazy Streamers, 3D Kings, CoCoPride and A LOT more.

At some point all 7 days of the week were taken by different trait groups to host their own space. Every single day I had the opportunity to talk and learn in a safe space. At least that’s how I felt it.

Just look at THIS!!!!!!

Lazy Crew & Lazy Spanish

All trait groups have different ideas and plans. But we can’t deny the marketing power it has for the mother brand, Lazy Lions in this case.

As trait group leaders we spend a lot of time connecting and welcoming people from the Pride and other projects. And how could I talk about the Lazy Crew without talking first about Lazy Lions?

I founded the Lazy Crew (pirates & captain hats) & Lazy Spanish (the bridge between the Latin & the English speaking community). All I’m going to say is that being a trait group leader takes a lot of work and usually is really hard to get any economic benefit. Making it sustainable basically.

Isla Tortuga is the home of both Lazy Crew & Lazy Spanish

It’s still one of the happiest times of my web3 journey though!

Lion’s Winter

Don’t know exactly when it happened. Maybe it was before the Lazy Apes drama or closely after. But at some point a hard winter hit the Cabana Bar.

What used to be one of the most vibrant communities, started to become just a glimpse of a great past. Many 2021 Degens were asking… “Do Lazy Lions even Roar?”

That used to be one of the best engagement farming techniques back in the day. But then, that same tweet would get less traction than a regular GM post.

Why did it happen?

I don’t feel in the place to say that I know 100% what happened. I might know less than half actually, but I’m going to share my vision as a trait group leader.

I respect and care about Ashur & Nine, they created this monster and that’s never going to change. But at some point we all felt lost in the team’s vision.

We didn’t know what to expect nor the direction the project was taking. They have always built in the dark and that’s ok, but not knowing what to expect for almost a year is too much. Long story short, we lost a great deal of faith.

And not just that, the ones putting a lot of work into our trait groups felt that we were not supported by them.

I’m not here to criticize anyone and I prefer not to dwell on the past. I just want to say that most trait leaders didn’t feel supported by the team

Lion’s Spring

Time went by, trait groups related activities were almost gone. Finding a trait space was weirder than a green dog. Except Saturday nights with the Zombies! You can’t kill what’s already dead!

But then, we started seeing plenty of collections doing great stuff, floor prices going up left and right and dead projects resurrecting. While we were waiting for something to happen.

It’s not about the floor price, I think is the worst way to analyze a project. It’s about not having a clear north and seeing how we got diluted. We were slowly dying. Or at least that’s how I felt.

One day I entered the Cabana Bar and chaos broke loose. I don’t want to get into any specifics but these are my 2 conclusions:

The community asks for a change in leadershipCabana Bar was vibrant again

Lions were waking up. Spring hit the Cabana Bar and everyday we were speculating about the change of leadership.

You guessed it right, Lucas Netz’s name was thrown almost daily.

Change of leadership

I’ll be honest. Before learning about the new owners, I wasn’t optimistic. I thought they’d be outsiders using Lazy Lions for personal gain.

Why acquire it instead of starting their own project? Spend all that time, money and effort in a brand that’s devalued and without the mint funds.

But when I heard who they were, I literally yelled at the screen.

The project is now in the hands of dedicated community members, trait leaders who stuck with Lions through thick and thin.

I could write 100 articles about them, but the key is:

These new leaders are genuine community members, that have always been a part of the project. They know what was wrong and the real potential of Lions.

The new owners in my own words

Kaneco (coolest pfp of the Pride?)

Kaneco is the one I know the least of the team, but on these last days, I’ve been listening to a ton of spaces and interacted on Discord.
He seems like a guy that knows what he wants, super confident and with a business mindset. I feel that a profile like his was super needed to make the project financially sustainable. Can’t wait to get to know him as much as I know the others.

SolaKing

I met Sola at the beginning of my NFT journey and at first I was kind of intimidated by him. With his British accent and all his experience in both web2 & web3 I felt like that.
Then he jumped on a Lazy Crew space, we started talking about football (the real one) and since then we became friends. My first impression was completely off. Yes he has a sexy british accent and a ton of experience, but he is sweeter than sugar and is always available to lend you a hand if he can.
Also apart from being part of the Lazy Hats, he created the Lazy Streamers to support all gamers and content creators of the Pride. Their discord is great and even got the Lazy Chefs to stream themselves while making a tasty dish. A great idea if you ask me.

LocalCryptoGod — Westie

Oh what to say about this sexy MF! He is the perfect blend of business mindset, creativity, fun & edgy personality. We shared plenty of spaces and know each other for almost 2 years (I think, haha feels like 10 years to me).

Founder of the 3D Kings, the trait group of 3D glasses. They assembled a super talented team and never stopped innovating. Their last endeavor was LazyButts. Ever wonder how your lion would look like in full body? Well, now you can!
They knocked it out of the park with Lazy Butts and for a couple of months it was all lions were talking about.

Tlee — The other half of the Crypto Couple

This Canadian guy is one of my best friends, period. Not only on web3. And this goes for you too Jolly Olly!
Seasoned trader, crypto OG, business owner and more. But you can find that elsewhere, or just ask him.
What I want to say is that this guy is as genuine as someone can be. Really nice, empathic and there for you when needed. I had a really rough time these last 2 months and both of them were on my dms every week checking on me.

I’m sorry but for me it is impossible to talk about Tlee without talking about Jolly. The crypto couple, as I call them, are the most passionate people about this space I’ve ever met.

Jolly’s amazing pfp!

I had the privilege to spend 10 days with them in Buenos Aires (my home) and 2 things stroke me:

I felt that I knew them my whole life. The connections we make in web3 are REALWe couldn’t stop talking about this space. Especially about Lazy Lions, even while we were drinking like there’s no tomorrow

The passion they both show for the Pride is unmatched. They even got their parents LHats. Tlee’s mother has the best LHat btw, sorry not sorry.

I also feel the need to mention Jolly because I know that without her, this could never happen or at least not in this way. She is one of the sweetest more caring people you could ever meet and supports every crazy idea Tlee has. Thanks for being you!

Now What?

I can’t say what their plans are. Mainly because I don’t know them. But I can confidently say that they know what was wrong, they suffered it and now are steering back to the community.

As a trait leader now I’m super pumped to start rebuilding the Lazy Crew and Lazy Spanish because I’m going to have the support of not only the main account but also all the other trait leaders and team.

We did a lot of noise by ourselves, without real support from the team. Imagine the noise we can make TOGETHER as a Pride.

Hit me up if you want to get involved with the Crew

I don’t expect a great rise in the floor price, I couldn’t care less. All I want is for the Pride to be what it was, but with steroids. Much stronger, united and real. This community is a sleeping giant. Degens know it

Closing words on Ashur & Nine

I don’t know them as well as the new owners, but they always struck me as great guys. Ashur could always fire me up, and Nine seemed like the wizard behind everything.

All I have to say is Thank You for creating one of web3’s most recognizable brands and building a fantastic community.

I understand some might be upset, but I also empathize with leaders letting their project go when the community desires it.

I don’t know the full story, but as a community member and trait leader, I’m grateful for what you’ve created.
